Mehr Alejandro is the co-founder of Mulch California.
Mehr Alejandro is a young designer born and located in San Clemente. He grew up in-between California and Spain, with different and diverse cultures, that now he translate to his creations.
Since childhood Mehr Alejandro considered himself a confident outsider and manifested artistic flair. Years later he ended up becoming a cultural anthropologist.
During one of his lengthy stays in Spain, he met Ana Maria, his wife, who he considers a treasure who gives no sorrow but the worlds purest pleasure. Her love for him and his orientation for individuality inspired him to begin his dreams of designing within fashion.
Mehr Alejandro is a self-trained designer. He started creating his works in solitude, assembling little by little his great team, who now continually improves step by step the process of design, the initial sketch, pattern making, dyeing, cutting, sewing, personalized details until the complete creation of the pant, achieving, a result that is one of a kind.
Quest for innovation is constant at the heart of Mulch California. Equally as important, is the constant in Mulch California’s culture in search of sustainable fabric and textures and all the interplay with pure construction. All of our designs focus on now and tomorrow, even if they are inspired by historical and classical references.

Philippe Zarif is Co-founder of Mulch California. Philippe was born in San Clemente, CA where he grew appreciation for the ocean and the fragile nature we are part of. His summer travels to other countries taught him to be resourceful, and respect others and the environment.
He graduated from UCI with a degree in International Studies with emphasis on sustainability. He believes Mulch California’s organic approach gives the apparel industry a new option--one of a kind and limited edition pants hand made in California for the conscious consumer. The love and attention Mulch puts into designing, sourcing fabrics, engineering a fit and constructing a pant unique just for you is priceless. No mass production, no child labor, no harm to other living things, and long lasting. Mulch California is sustainable fashion made with love and care.
The most important part of Mulch California is our constant search for ways to improve our methods.
Philippe leads the efforts in consistency, efficiency, and quality in all aspects of the business. His philosophy is to avoid taking short cuts and look at the whole picture rather than looking for quick fixes, and managing parts.
Philippe is more involved with the business development of the company but is a jack-of-all-trades. Picking up the slack in any area that needs it; cutting, sewing, dyeing, customer service and any other daily activities. His goal is to help bring sustainable solutions to a fashion industry that’s wasteful and runs off blind consumption.
